In an exciting clash between the Ragin' Cajuns Louisiana soccer team and James Madison, Lafayette witnessed their first-ever meeting on the pitch on Saturday, September 30. Despite enjoying the home-field advantage, the Cajuns faced a formidable opponent in the SBC preseason favorites and concluded the match with a 4-0 scoreline.
The visitors wasted no time making an impact, as Shea Collins found the back of the net in the sixth minute. Shortly thereafter, Amanda Attanasi extended James Madison's lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 12th minute. Suwaibatu Mohammed further solidified their advantage, making it a 3-0 game with her goal in the 21st minute.
Although the Cajuns had opportunities to get on the scoreboard, with Brynn Dunbar's attempt thwarted by a Duke defender in the 41st minute, they showcased resilience in the second half. Emma Bates came close with a shot that grazed the fingertips of the keeper and hit the crossbar, while Tatum Beck's shot from inside the box sailed wide left in their final scoring chance of the afternoon.
James Madison's Suwaibatu Mohammed secured her second goal in the second half, sealing the 4-0 victory for the Dukes. Despite the outcome, the Ragin' Cajuns displayed commendable effort and determination throughout the match, illustrating their competitive spirit against a strong conference opponent.
