In the heart of Lafayette, The Cajun Table stands as a beacon of authentic Cajun hospitality and culinary tradition. Founded by Sean and Lauren Suire, this family-owned restaurant is more than just a place to eat—it's a vibrant celebration of Louisiana's rich culture and heritage.
A Journey from Block Parties to Brick & Mortar
The story of The Cajun Table began in the lively Saint Street neighborhood, where Sean and Lauren first met as next-door neighbors during their college years at UL Lafayette. What started as casual block parties, filled with music and home-cooked Cajun food, soon grew into a shared dream. Sean, a crawfish farmer from Cow Island, would boil his fresh catch on Sundays, creating an atmosphere of “bon temps” that brought the community together. Their love for Cajun culture and cuisine inspired them to launch a food truck in 2015, serving up their signature dishes at local festivals and shows. This venture laid the groundwork for the opening of their brick-and-mortar restaurant in March 2017.
Honoring Heritage with Every Dish
The name “The Cajun Table” was born from a suggestion by Sean's maternal grandmother, who coined the phrase “Le Table Cajun.” The name embodies the spirit of the restaurant, where family traditions are honored through food. Many menu items are named after their ancestors, a testament to the deep-rooted connections that shape their culinary offerings.
A Menu Rich in Flavor and Tradition
For first-time visitors, the menu offers a mouthwatering array of choices. Start with the Crawfish Nachos, Chicken & Smoked Sausage Gumbo, or the Grilled Shrimp & Bacon Wrap. Don’t miss the Fried Catfish Bites and Fried Alligator Bites, which showcase the best of Louisiana's seafood. And if you're visiting during crawfish season, the Boiled Crawfish is a must-try—freshly caught and boiled to perfection by Sean himself, it's a fan favorite that's won numerous local awards.
Locally Sourced, Cajun Inspired
The Cajun Table takes pride in using local and regional ingredients, from Gulf Shrimp and Blue Point Crabs to the crawfish from Suire Family Ponds. Their dishes are infused with the flavors and love that define Cajun cooking, offering a true taste of Louisiana with every bite.
Experience the Cajun Way of Life
The Cajun Table is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience steeped in the culture and traditions of Louisiana. From the moment you walk in, you're treated like family, with authentic Cajun food, locally sourced ingredients, and the lively sounds of zydeco and Cajun music filling the air. Signature dishes like Miss Kay’s Cajun Nachos, Maw’s Crawfish Dip, and Nonky’s Fonky Potatoes set The Cajun Table apart, while their fresh-fried Cajun Table Pork Rinds and unique cocktails like the Bloody Marie and Jalapeno Lena Margarita add a special touch.
A Hub for Festival Fun
The Cajun Table’s presence at local festivals, such as Festivals Acadiens et Creole and Acadiana Eats Festival, has helped them connect with new customers and become a beloved part of the community. Their participation in these events allows them to share their love for Cajun culture with an even wider audience.
Take a Piece of Cajun Culture Home
Sean and Lauren hope that every visitor leaves The Cajun Table with a full heart and a full belly. Before you go, don’t forget to pick up a can of their signature Cajun Table All-Purpose Cajun Seasoning, a perfect way to bring the flavors of Louisiana into your own kitchen.
