LSU's star quarterback, Jayden Daniels, clinched the 2023 Heisman Trophy but has now set his sights on the NFL draft, opting to skip the Tigers' upcoming bowl game, as announced on his social media channels. After two remarkable years at LSU post his transfer from Arizona State, Daniels' departure marks a significant shift for the team.

During his tenure, Daniels showcased impressive stats—3,812 passing yards and 40 touchdowns, along with 1,134 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. His Heisman win on Dec. 9 places him among the elite LSU quarterbacks, following in the footsteps of Joe Burrow's 2019 victory. Adding to his accolades, Daniels scooped up the Davey O'Brien Award, Walter Camp Player of the Year, AP Player of the Year, and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

With Daniels sitting out, the spotlight now turns to Garrett Nussmeier, expected to step up as the starter against Wisconsin. Despite his absence from the field, Daniels pledged his support for his teammates by planning to attend the bowl game.

ESPN NFL draft Insider Mel Kiper Jr. ranks Daniels as the third-best quarterback prospect and an impressive No. 4 overall pick on his Big Board, setting high expectations for his transition to the professional league.
