On the steps of the Louisiana State Capitol, Gov.-elect Jeff Landry is scheduled to take the oath as the state's 57th governor in a ceremony this Sunday at 4:30 p.m. A member of the Republican party, Landry brings eight years of experience as the state's attorney general to his new role. Alongside him, various state officials will also be sworn in during the same event.
The Legislature will have a separate inauguration ceremony on Monday at 10 a.m. Initially slated for January 8th at the Louisiana Capitol in Baton Rouge, inauguration day was rescheduled to Sunday, January 7th, due to anticipated severe weather conditions on Monday. This shift prompted officials to expedite both the ceremony and ball to ensure a smooth transition.
