Arkansas football's resurgence this season came to a screeching halt Saturday night, as No. 8 LSU secured a convincing 34-10 win at Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The Tigers (6-1, 3-0 SEC) outplayed the Razorbacks on both sides of the ball, amassing 384 total yards and controlling possession throughout the game. Arkansas (4-3, 2-2 SEC) struggled offensively, managing only 277 yards, and couldn’t find its usual rhythm in the running game, finishing with a mere 38 rushing yards.

LSU’s win not only ensures they retain the coveted Golden Boot Trophy but also clinches bowl eligibility for the Tigers under head coach Brian Kelly.

First Half: LSU Establishes Control

From the opening whistle, LSU wasted no time setting the tone. Freshman running back Caden Durham capped the first drive with a 22-yard touchdown, putting the Tigers up 7-0. Arkansas responded by missing a 43-yard field goal, and LSU took advantage with Damian Ramos knocking through a 33-yard field goal, making it 10-0 by the end of the first quarter.

The Razorbacks’ night took a downturn when running back Rashod Dubinion fumbled, giving LSU another scoring chance. The Tigers capitalized, adding another field goal early in the second quarter to extend the lead to 13-0. Arkansas fought back when quarterback Taylen Green found Andrew Armstrong for a 25-yard touchdown pass, cutting LSU’s lead to 13-7. But despite some offensive miscues, LSU added another field goal, going into halftime up 16-7.

Second Half: LSU Extends Its Lead, Arkansas Struggles

Arkansas opened the third quarter with a 51-yard field goal from Matthew Shipley, reducing the deficit to 16-10. However, LSU quickly shut down the Razorbacks’ momentum when linebacker Whit Weeks intercepted Green, setting up another Durham touchdown, this time from two yards out. LSU successfully converted a two-point attempt, widening the lead to 24-10.

Unable to establish the running game, Arkansas relied heavily on the pass, which proved ineffective against LSU's defense. Ramos added a fourth field goal in the fourth quarter to extend the Tigers' lead to 27-10. Durham later punched in his third touchdown of the night, a 1-yard run, sealing LSU’s dominant 34-10 victory.

Key Insights

LSU’s defense stifled Arkansas all night, holding the Razorbacks to under 300 total yards and keeping their ground attack in check. Caden Durham shined with three rushing touchdowns, while Damian Ramos was perfect on four field goal attempts. Despite several penalties, LSU’s resilience and execution allowed them to control the game from start to finish.

The victory not only keeps LSU in the race for the SEC title but also guarantees them a spot in a postseason bowl game. Arkansas will need to regroup quickly, as

they face Mississippi State on the road next week.
