LSU Tigers Secure Commitment from 2025 Defensive Lineman Dilan Battle

LSU Tigers Secure Commitment from 2025 Defensive Lineman Dilan Battle

In a significant recruiting win, LSU head coach Brian Kelly and his staff have secured a commitment from Dilan Battle, a standout defensive lineman from Arlington (Tex.) Mansfield Timberview. Battle, a three-star prospect, made his announcement via social media on Monday, choosing LSU over several other programs, including Texas Tech, Cal, and SMU.

Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 300 pounds, Battle is an imposing figure on the interior defensive line. He had been on LSU's radar for some time, especially after his official visit to Baton Rouge in June. The visit left a strong impression on Battle, and even as LSU seemed to ease off its pursuit momentarily, the Tigers' coaching staff ultimately secured his commitment.

For LSU’s defensive line coach Bo Davis, Battle's commitment marks the third addition to the defensive tackle position in the 2025 recruiting cycle. Battle will join four-star recruits Brandon Brown and Zion Williams, further bolstering the Tigers' defensive front. The addition of these three linemen highlights LSU's aggressive approach to building a formidable defensive line for the future.

But LSU isn’t done yet. The program is also making significant strides in the recruitment of Georgia defensive lineman Walter Mathis, who is expected to make his college decision in the coming weeks. If LSU can land Mathis, it would be another major boost to an already impressive recruiting class.

With Battle's commitment, LSU now has 22 recruits in its 2025 class, which currently ranks as the third-best in the nation. Battle cited the relationships he built with LSU coaches and players as a key factor in his decision.

"Talking to a few of the freshman players and hearing about their experiences at LSU really influenced me," Battle shared with On3 Sports' The Bengal Tiger. "The tradition at LSU and the way they develop players for the next level stood out to me. The coaches made me feel at home, and Coach Kelly encouraged me to make the best decision for myself."

Battle’s commitment further solidifies LSU's already stellar 2025 recruiting class, which features top prospects like Bryce Underwood, Harlem Berry, DJ Pickett, and Derek Meadows. This group is shaping up to be a program-defining haul for the Tigers, setting a high bar for future success in Baton Rouge.
